1 RHS Cucumber Emilie F1 seed pack

(Botanical Name: Cucumis sativus)

Pack Size 10 seeds

Description:

An exceptional hybrid variety that produces almost entirely female flowers. An excellent home garden variety that is a reliable and abundant cropper. The vines are quite vigorous and have good disease resistance. The delicious mid-sized, smooth skinned cucumbers are a tasty addition to salads and sandwiches.

Winner of an RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliability and good performance.

A Parthenocarpic variety that develops fruit without the need for fertilisation resulting in sterile fruit with minimal seeds.

How to Grow:

Sow 12mm (1/2in) deep. Cover with a fine layer of compost and firm gently. Keep soil moist and warm. Seedlings appear in 6-10 days.

Thin to the strongest seedlings allowing 40-50cm (16-20in) between plants. Train up wires to ensure fruits go straight, remove growing point at roof level. Occasionally male flowers (those without a swelling behind the flower) may form, especially if plants become stressed. These should be removed as pollinated female flowers may produce bitter fruits.

Early Spring to Summer

Harvest:

8-10 weeks

Soil Type:

Well cultivated, sunny position
